Artist's Comments   contest entry. Theme: School's In! I didn't feel like going with an AU school thing since I MEGA-LOATHE Naruto AU HS fics. (Right up there with AU Vampire fics) I was going to write a corresponding fanfiction to go with it, but I gave up. Instead I'll just summarize the scene here. I know it's a tl;dr, but please read it to make sense of the picture. It'll save me a headache explaining it to people in comments. Naruto is off doing his sennin training with the toads. Kakashi is filling in as Team 8's leader while Kurenai is pregnant/nursing/raising the baby. He decides that Team 8 can improve by adding elemental ninjutsu to their arsenal. Hinata is revealed to be lightning natured, much to her shock and disappointment. (A theory of mine includes Hyuuga are naturally graceful due to them mainly either wind or water natured chakra. Hinata is neither, therefore explaining why she is less graceful than the average Hyuuga and has to work twice as hard to learn the flow of the jyuuken kata) Kakashi decides to personally train her in the arts of elemental recomposition. Through the training, Hinata learns that being lightning-natured may make her a bigger threat than the average Hyuuga. Striking an opponent with normal chakra will only seal tenketsu, but elementally recomposing her chakra will additionally mess up her opponent's nervous system. Furthermore, incorporating lightning will improve the cutting power of her kaiten and shugohakke techniques. Here Kakashi is having Hinata test her theory regarding her improved sealing-and-stunning gentle fist techniques. A brave man since he's willing to take a hit. No matter. He knows Hinata has picked up a few medic techniques. In the midst of sealing-and-stunning, the two feel gentle sparks between them, but both are uncertain if it's due to the electrical discharge coming from Hinata's hand.  September is usually a hot month, so I had them remove their vest/jacket. Kakashi doesn't have his forehead protector on because he's hotter without it. ;x Don't mind the background.
